High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) plastic sheets are available in gloss, matt, pinseal, mirror, recycled and conductive and each have their own unique characteristics. However, four things they all have in common are their versatility, cost-effectiveness, light weight and high impact strength.
HIPS Gloss, Matt & Pinseal Sheet
HIPS Gloss, HIPS Matt and HIPS Pinseal sheets boast excellent forming capabilities, making it easy to extrude, vacuum form, mould and bend into shape. They are FDA compliant/food safe, so an ideal plastic for use within the food and packaging industries where food contact safety is paramount. They can also be printed using a variety of printing methods including screen printing and offset lithography. HIPS Gloss is available in white, black, red, yellow, orange, green, blue, grey, pinseal and opal. HIPS Matt is available in white and black. HIPS pinseal is available in black.
HIPS Mirror Sheet
Mirror HIPS is a sheet of High Impact Polystyrene laminated with a metallised polyester foil and protected by a polyethylene masking film that should be removed after installation. It is the lightest weight of all the mirror substrates and more cost effective compared to other plastic mirrors, such as acrylic. Mirrored HIPS is available in gold, silver and rose gold, and is the perfect plastic material for dancefloors or catwalk runways.
HIPS Recycled Sheet
Recycled High Impact Polystyrene plastic sheets are manufactured from post-industrial waste and are 100% recycled. They are lightweight with high impact strength and not only are they made from 100% recycled plastic but they are also fully recyclable. Strong and consistent, recycled HIPS can be used for a wide range of applications including plastic for point of sale (POS), print, display and signage. Recycled HIPS sheets are available in white and black.
HIPS Conductive
Black conductive HIPS sheets are a thermoplastic sheet offering high impact strength, long-lasting conductivity and excellent mechanical properties. Conductive HIPS can also be formed, making it easy to extrude, vacuum form, mould and bend into shape. The sheet has low surface and volume resistance compared to other plastics and permanent conductive properties, making it ideal for electrical component handling trays and other applications that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). HIPS Conductive is available in black.
